Can you get birth, marriage, and death certificate on your Xerox down to William. The William and send Xerox copies to please  off to? (writing along edges mostly missing in copy sent to me. (Larry Anderson)

TO ANY RELATIVE, FRIEND or OTHERS WHO LABOR ON FAMILY HISTORIES, GREETINGS:

AS EVERYONE KNOWS, WHO HAS BEEN CHASING "FAMILY ROOTS" THAT IT IS INTERESTING, EXCITING AND REWARDING EVEN THOUGH MUCH TIME, EXPENSE AND FRUSTRATION IS VERILY MIXED. IN WITH THE REWARDS.

THE UNDERSIGNED HAS BEEN WORKIGN ON THE ABOVE SECTOIN OF THE HIATT  GENEALOGY SINCE 1925. UNTIL I CAME ACROSS A COPY THE HIETT-HIATT GENEALOGY AND FAMILY HISTORY REFERRED TO ELESWHERE IN THE ATTACHMENTS, IT WAS POOR DIGGINS.  EVEN AFTER I RECEIVED THE BOOK I WAS STUCK TRYING TO FIND OUT WHO GRANDFATHER WILLIAM HIAT'S FATHER WAS.  IT ALL CAME TO LIGHT WHEN I RECEIVED HIS DEATH CERTIFICATE AND THERE IT SHOWED THE CONNECTION.  ENOS HIATT WAS THE ONE I WAS LOOKING FOR TO GET TO  OUR IMMIGRANT ANCESTOR, JOHN HIATT.

The attached pages are excerpts from the book referred to above and we have to voice a vote of appreciation to  the author and all the many personages who furnished information.  You can readily see that there is much information missing as to dates of birth, marriages, deaths, names of husbands, wives and other pertinent information.  Which ancestor for the Pony Express and fought the Indians.  how did our forefathers travel, by which route and what transportation to get from Virginia and the Carolinas to Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and some on West to catch up with Joseph Smith and the Mormons. Or from the Carolinas and Virginia to Kentucky, Tennessee and on up into Indiana and Ohio.
You can also read about one of our Lady Ancestors who was hanged in Boston, MASS. for preaching in public about "Quakerism", etc.  All these and many other interesting stories are mentioned in the 1013 page book mentioned above.  It can be found in many Libraries, Historical Societies and it surely will be any Genealogical Library.  Now it's  your move if you want to find out what makes you tick. If you have or know where any of the following is located, your help and assistance and participation in bringing our genealogy to publication is wanted and will be most assuredly appreciated.  Who has a family bible, birth, marriage or death certificates, stories of our ancestors and  filling out family pedigrees and lineage charts are all ways that you can help to verify ancestral information.  Photographs with information on the back as to who the individuals are reading L to R and the dates and occasions, the most important of all are the birth, marriage and death certificates.  If you have them please forward or make a zero (GOOD) copy for publication.  If you don't have them may we urge  you to do so by writing the vital statistics or health department of the state where the event took place.  Would like your comment as to where we could have a reunion for at least a 1,000. Would Richmond, Las Vegas or Salt Lake City be OK?  Give us your thought and what kind of program you'd like to see.  How many days.  If you would like a copy of the book when it is published please advise me.  The more co operation and material supplied by all will determine its value cost.  You will not be bound to take one.  It's your choice.

Let me urge you to participate promptly with your information and I thank you most sincerley for your time, effort and cost to get the information which I have requested.  John H. Hiatt    5/14/1983
