Sarah Alice Miller. Her father are ordained minister crossed the plains in 1851, as each wagon came train had to have at least one preacher and one Dr. to Christian the new borns and take care of medical needs. Our mother was an excellent cook as all mothers were in those days, she loved to make jams and jellies, pies and cakes.
Sure was delicious, you could dump it out of a glass into a saucer, the jelly would shake like a fat man's belly. She won a price which was a blueribbon, her niece who was named form who was going to the state fair and wanted to take a glass of the jelly, which mother left her do. She won the price at state, received a blue ribbon attached to the state seal. The Portland Produce Co. wanted to by the recipe, she received a check for 25$ which she thought a terrific price. A form was enclosed for her to sign. A pledge she would not sell the recipe to anyone else or commercialize the jelly and jam business.
