I have completely different parents at this point, has to be clarified and proven out.
His death certificate lists his father as “Jim Badgett Venable.” Most likely he was James (“Jim”) Badgett [1814-1876] who married Elizabeth Winfrey.
On 23 Mar 1864 when William Madison "Bill" was 23, he married Susan CHANDLER, 15719, daughter of Isaac CHANDLER, 15724 (1814-1894) & Frances "Fannie" STEWART, 15725 (ca1816-1894), in Surry County, NC. Born in Mar 1842 in Stokes County, NC. Susan died in Eldora Township, Surry County, NC ca 1902, she was 59.
The 1900 census indicated that Susan had had ten (10) children and nine (9) were then living. Is her son James Brinkley (from her first marriage) the child who died?
