GOES 250 MILES TO FUNERAL
Rev. Sager of Edwardsville Makes Trip to Serve at Bier.
Rev. James R. Sager, pastor ot the First Presbyterian Church at Edwardsville, made a 250-mile trip to conduct the funeral of Mrs. Mary Berry, wife of Dr. O. H. Berry of Bellview, Ill. He returned to Edwardsville yesterday after twenty-fours hours of continoujs travel, except an hour during services.
He is an intimate friend of the family and Mrs. Berry had requested that he conduct services in case of her death. She was active in church work in the Calhoun County Sunday School Association. Her death occurred on the church lawn Saturday night from heart disease while arranging for a festival.
Rev. Sager rode forty miles on horseback in a blinding storm to marry the couple, in January 1906. The trip required two days. There are no railroads in Calhoun County.
