In 1771, George and James accompanied Daniel Boone on a land hunting expedition into Kentucky. George was a farmer, merchant and minister. There were two other children who died in infancy, names and gender not known.Received 300 acres in Green County, Tennessee.
In the fall of 1803 he settled on Todd's Fork, Ohio.
Moved to Quaker Point, Vermillion County, Illinois.

A family folk tale says that in 1773 he went to KY, with Daniel Boone where they were attacked by Indians near Cumberland Gap, so returned home. If George and his brother did accompany Daniel Boone, it was when he went to Florida. Daniel wanted to settle there but his wife refused to go. They went instead to KY. George was drafted into the Continental Army and fled to NC to avoid service. In 1784 moved to 300 acres on the banks of Nolachuchkee, a tributary of the Holston River, near Afton, Greene Co., NC.
