Nancy E. Wells, daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Robert Spence, was born in Ind.
April 11, 1857 and died at the home of her son, Samuel E. Wells, living on the Harman place, about four miels north of Knoxville, early Christmas mornign at the age of 72 years.
She was married in 1873 to Jesse Wells. Eight children were born to this
home, of whom five are living. Those who preceded their mother in death were
Mary E., Viola and Victor; the living children are W.P. Wells of Knoxville,
J.E. Wells of Brownville, Tex.,John Albert of Elmwood, Ill. Mrs Elsie M. Agan
of near Seymour and S.E. Wells of Knoxville.
Mr. Wells preceded his wife in death about thirty years ago. Most of the
time since Mrs. Wells lived at Knoxville. She was a member fo the Baptist
church in Ind, where she retained her mebership till her death. Besides two
children there are twenty-three grandchildren and sever great grandchildren who survive her. There are also four sisters and one brother, Martha Marshall and Rachel Aganof Hardinsburg, Ind. Lillie Duncise of Ill, Lottie Curcilius of Indiana and William Spence of Ill.
Funeral services were held at the Eden Church Thurday mornign Dec 26, at 11 o'clock in charge of the Rev. W.J. Fowler.
