Sarah Resley McConnaughey was living with her daughter Sarah Eleanor Fouch in the 1860 census and was living with her daughter Mary J. Hart in the 1870 census. On one census, Sarah gave her birthplace as Maryland and on another, her children gave it as PA.

Echo School Board Dir. 1895 when school organized
The spike family moved here from Middlesex, NY in 1885. Frank was a noted veterinarian. He had at least two patents for veterinarian medicines which he made in a small building behind his house in Echo. His house was the old building (moved from Umatilla Landing) across from the Masonic Lodge on Bridge St., which is now a shop. He would not tell anyone how to make it or write it down. His son Elting and his daughter-in-law Pamela, who helped him, knew the recipe, but would not tell anyone the recipe because Frank wanted it kept secret, so it died with them. Homer Coppinger, said his horse linament was one of the best he ever used. B lack Leg Cure was the name of one of the patented medicines. Frank was mayor of Echo from Jan. 5, 1921 to Jan. 23 Elmer was mayor from1923 to1929. Frank was also a judge and council man. 1880 Middlesex NY census lists Frank 34, Martha E., 31, Elmer S. 8, Robert R. 6, Elting J, r, adams, 11 mos.
Elmer must be a family name because there was still an elmer in 1900 middlesex census after our family came west; also in 1963 there was an Elmer Spike that died in California.
Estate of Mary A. Brownell 1898, Middlesex NY lists: Lizzie Soles, Estella Pike, Robert R. Brownell, Cornelius, Charles Byron, Judson & John Van Houten, Elizabeth J Francisco, Sophia Adams, Adaline Catterson, Ella Collins, Peter & Frank Spike, Mary J. Chaffee, George Rackham.
I think Mary Chaffee may have been Frank's sister and Peter his bros.
1870 Middlesex NY censuc: Elizabeth(159), Franklin(219), George(159), George(159) Harrie(152), Martha E(219), and Peter (159)
Estate of Ro bert Rackham 1885 lists the following heirs: Mary, George and James Rackham, Elizabeth Underwood, Jane Dinehart, Martha Spike, Lodema Adams, Edna, Orlando and Sarah Cleveland
