General(6): No sign of Luke on the 1850 census but he is mentioned in a paper sent to me by
Helen Grigsby Canfield supposedly written by Thomas Hart Benton Edington that "I
had three brothers: James and William Riley, and Luke Tipton". This is why I
included him in the first family and do not have a birth date. A letter was sent
me by Judy Troiano written by David L. Edington, youngest child of Wade and his
second wife, Nancy Rice. It was written in 1924 and addressed to Mr. T.C.
Edington, Culver City, CA. A portion of the letter stated that "Brother Luke,
the oldest boy, was drowned in Wabash river in Tenn." As far as I can ascertain,
the Wabash river does not run into TN being mostly in IN. Unfortunately he
wrote out the name of the state so it couldn't be mistaken for IN. He may have
meant the Watauga River which is in Eastern TN.CHILD NOTES: James A. EDINGTON

own family, wife Elen, children: Sarah 3, William 2, and Mary 2 months old.
Marr: No record at this time. Death: Judy Troiano received a copy of a letter
to T.C. Edington of Culver City dated Apr. 16, 1924 from David L. Edington, the
youngest child of Wade H. Edington and his second wife, Nancy Rice. In it,
David states "Brother Jim the next oldest died at Grants Pass, Oregon." I have
been unable to prove this through Grants Pass informants.In the 1875 Great Register of Napa County, there is listed #4138 Voter #790, a
James Alexander Eddington, age 37, born in Missouri, a farmer residing in the town of
Yount, registered Sep 1, 1873. This may be him.CHILD NOTES: William Riley EDINGTON

Yount, registered 26 Jun 1871. #3390 appears to be a duplicate posting of the
same William Riley except the date of register is 6 Sep 1871.Concerning the burial information, the name in the office records was W.R.
Edington. He would have only been 48 when he died so more research has to be
done concerning this information. Wrote Thelma Kester of the Napa Valley

General(18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29,30,31): Obituary in the St. Helena Star dated Mar 14 1919 says born in Dallas County,
Missouri. Death certificate only has 1841 on it, age 73 when died, and birthplace
Missouri. "History of Solano and Napa Counties, pp 822-823 states "The scene of
his boyhood years was passed near Springfield, Missouri, where he was born March 31,
1840." Springfield is in Greene County and Dallas County is Northeast of
Greene. However, this article has errors in it concerning Thomas' father and
mother. Information sent by Helen Grigsby Canfield in the form of a typewritten
list that she said Thomas had written himself of the members of him and his wife
and their children with their birthdates. Copy of article in the St. Helena
Star dated Mar 1914 sent to Virginia L. Humes from Jill Harshbarger, 4931
Lexington Circle, Loomis, CA 95650, who is the great-granddaughter of Joseph
Edington, one of Thomas' sons, re their Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration.
