Dear Wife
I send these lines to let you know that myself and Samuel is in health I hope these lines may find you all well, I had the pleasure of being at taking of Pensacola which is a beautiful Town. We are 300 miles distance from Pensacola in the state of Louisiana near Baton Rouge. Our Horses are suffering Vastly with fatigue & for ___ ___ of food and as of us we are the same______. We are now at distance of about 600 miles from Home. The Season is very Rainy in this country but very warm as of the 7th day months. I saw peach trees in full bloom. we took Pensacola on the 7th day of November and our loss was four men. I had the pleasure of picking as many oranges as I wanted (????)_______ _____ ____ _____ ______ _____ ____Joseph Tipton we are expecting every day. When we shall march to New Orleans to face the British & Irish I have no idea that we shall stay long at Orleans. I live in the hope that we shall be dismissed when the Tennessee militia comes. N B George Rowland & John Tyree is in health & wishes to be remembered to their peopleLuke Edington, died 8 Jan 1815, Capt. Luke Edington ( who with his brother was in the Battle of New Orleans). Luke was shot above the eye, and before dying told his comrade to perserve his personal papers, as they would be vast importance some day. He was said to be the handsome man of his day.
Luke Edington married Anna Hopkins 23 Dec 1805 - Knox County, Luke Edington had a son Tom, who lived near Knoxville. tom had four children_ John Charlie, Tom and florence, (Early days in Monroe County, Tennessee - Wotrth S. Ray)

Edgar and Edna moved from Kansas to Illinois in 1902. In 1906 they moved to Sebastopol, California were Edgar was a merchant and farmer. They lived in Sebastopol when the 1906 earthquake hit. Edgar died 4 days after Edna.
