Lucy came with her folks to Utah from NC when about 4 years of age. When 18, she married James Albert Manwill. In her younger days she was considered a good singer and sang quite a bit in public, often singing duets with daddy (Fay). She was an excellent dressmaker and did much sewing for others throughout her entire lifetime. Grandma loved nice clothes and always dressed very well. She also liked company and enjoyed being with people. In her earlier life, she was very active in Church work, and was a teacher in Sunday School for a number of years. She and Grandpa Manwill were divorced in 1914. She married Judge Daley, but they lived together only about a year. Later she became the wife of a fellow by the name of Carter, but this marriage lasted only a few months.
