Marriage Notes for Jesse Montgomery and Susannah MABRY-192035

They lived  in Floyd County for years. Jesse deserted his wife

and family  in the 1840's.

William MONTGOMERY

[hannah2.FTW]

HE WAS LISTED IN THE 1860 CENSUS AS A FARMER, HIS WIFE'S AS THAT OF A HOUSEWIFE, AND THEIR DAUGHTER ELIZABETH THAT OF A SEAMSTRESS.

James MONTGOMERY

James Montgomery married Jane White.  He was listed in the

Carroll County Census of 1850 which stated his age at 60 years.

The same record show his occupation as a shoemaker (Grayson

Household #296; Wythe Household #574).  The 1860 Census states

where James resided with his son, Caswell P. Montgomery, in

Wythe County, Virginia.

Family tradition states James died while living with his

son, Caswell P. (Kidd) Montgomery, in what is now Floyd County,

Virginia.  Caswell P. did start what is presently known as the

Montgomery Cemetery, Indian Valley Section, Floyd County,

Virginia.

The family cemetery was started at the death of his young

daughter

Tishie.  Other known family members buried in this cemetery

include

Caswell P.and his wife, Tener Bowman; their son, McNeely

Montgomery and

his wife, Sarah Victoria Quesenberry; McNeely's sons Roy Bascum

Montgomery and Bruce Montgomery; McNeely's brother Tete

Montgomery

(William Fountain); McNeely's sister and husband, Liona (Sis)

and Asa Gallimore.

There are also other plain sand stone markers

within the Montgomery side of the cemetery that are unmarked.

When

first conducting this family tree it was believed that James and

his wife

were both buried in the Fruithill Cemetery located outside

Dugspur,

Floyd County, Virginia.  However since completing the genealogy,

finding numerous unmarked stones at the family cemetery, and

knowing that

James lived with his son, it is very possible that James and his

wife

might be buried here.

Jane WHITE

AS PER THE "REGISTER OF MONTGOMERY FAMILY RESEARCHERS 1979" THE

PARENTS

OF JANE WHITE ARE LISTED AS JOSEPH AND ANN WHITE OF SPRINGFIELD

M. M.

GUILFORD COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA.  REFERENCE IS MADE TO THE

QUAKER

SPRINGFIELD MINUTES DATED 1-2-1813.  THESE SHOW WHERE JANE

MCGUMERY

(FORMERLY WHITE), DISOWNED, MARRIED OUT OF UNITY.

THIS REFERENCE ALSO SHOW WHERE TEMPLE MONTGOMERY, BORN 1812, NC,

HENDRICKS

COUNTY, IN., HANNAH JESSUP, BORN 1809, STOKES COUNTY, NC.  SHE
