Will - February 3, 1775, Rowan County, NC

In the name of God amen, the third day of February 1775  - I,

John Snoddy, of the county of Rowan in the province of North

Carolina, being very sick and weak of body, but of perfect mind

and  memory. Therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body

and knowing  that it is appointed for all men once to die, do

make and ordain this my  last will and testament - that is to

say, principally and first of all, I  give and recommend my soul

to God that gave it and my body to the earth,  to be buried in a

decent

Christian burial at the discretion of my executor. And as

touching  worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless

me in this life.  (After my funeral charge and lawful debts is

paid) I give, demise and  dipose of the same in the following

manner and form --- I give to my  brother, Andrew Snoddy, all

and singular, my whole estate goods and  chattels, to his only

properwise and behold to be by him possessed and  enjoyed

forever, provided he lives to the age of maturity, but in case

he  dies a minor, and without issue, I allow my Cousin John

Snoddy the sum of  ten pounds of this my estate, but the said

John Snoddy is not to be  entitled to the said money on any

other terms than the above. And I do  likewise constitute the

said Andrew Snoddy under the guardian- ship of my  Uncle Sam'l

Snoddy, and Joseph Steel to be my sole executor of this my  last

will and testament. And I do hereby utterly revoke disallow and

disannul and make void all and every other former testament,

will legauis  and bequests by me heretofore made or done.

Ratifying and confirming this  and none other to be my last will

and testament. In witness whereof I  have set my hand and seal

the day and year above written. - - - Signed,  sealed, published

and declared by the said John Snoddy as his last will  and

testament in the presents of us the subscribers.

1775 - Rowan Co, NC - Andrew is mentioned in his brother,

John's, will.

Jan 10, 1786 - Rowan Co, NC - Andrew was bondsman for the

marriage of his  half-sister, Elizabeth Neil

and Theophilus Allison.

Feb 14, 1792 - Davidson Co, TN - Along with Ebenezer Brooks

witnessed  will of William Beaty.

July 14, 1792 - Was Captain of boat hauling corn to the

Chickasaw Indians  for Gen. James Robertson.

June 14, 1793 - Letter from Manuel Gayoso de Lemos to Baron de

Carondelet, Natchez: mentions that

Andrew Snoddy  was captain of a flatboat (info from Marvin

Snoddy).

August 14, 1794 - Davidson Co, TN - was a witness to a legal

suit.

Nov 20, 1794 - Testified that John Mays sold Frederick Stump, a

negro boy  named Myars.

1795 - Davidson Co, TN - Involved in dispute with his partner,

Robert M.  Connell. Arbitrators were Andrew

Jackson and George  M. Deaderick.

April 1795 - Inventoried the estate of Ezekiel Carrothers.

July 22, 1796 - Robertson Co, TN - Andrew Snoddy vs Abram

Hardin;  plantiff by Seth Lewis; defendant by

James Doherty.

April 1797 - Robertson Co, TN - Witnessed Bill of Sale for

William  Reasons.

May 28, 1800 - Purchased 800 "arpents" of land in St. Genevieve

District  of Missouri Territory.

July 15, 1801 - Witnessed deed, along with Alexander and William

Donelson.

June 1, 1807 - Purchase Lot #15 in Smithland, KY for $700.00

from Cribbs  and McCawley, "where John

McClain lives."

July 22, 1807 - Bought 15-year old female slave for $300.00 in

Davidson  County, TN.

Sept 9, 1807 - Bought from John Gordon, a negro girl named Lucy.

Witness:  Thomas Stuart and William                     J.

Probate.

1810 - Rapides Parish, Louisiana Territory - listed in Federal

Census; 1  white male over 44, 2 slaves.

Ca 1818 - Died in Arkansas County, AR - Joshua Morrison,

administrator.
