William Boles (1793-1861) was my ggrandfather. He was Isaiah and Isaac Boles
brother. He married Rebecca Cadenhead (1802-1883). They had eleven children,
amongst whom was Levi C. Boles, my ggrandfather, who married Nancy Gore in
Henderson, Texas. They had 5 children amongst whom was Ellen Orah
Boles(1861-1935), my grandmother, who married James Valentine Gililland.
Levi filed for Cherokee or Creek Indian priveleges claiming to be 1/4 Indian.
I have also heard that both Isaiah and Isaac married Indian ladies. I wonder if
Rebecca Cadenhead was of Indian Extraction. I have also heard that James Boles
Sr.'s wife's name is not known because she was a full blooded Indian and laws at
the time did not allow their marriage.
I would be most interested in any [additional information]...

I, too, descend from William Boles and Rebecca Cadenhead. Whereas you descend
from their son, Levi, I descend from their daughter, Phoebe, who married William
Hightower.
There is a book, "Southern Cadenheads" by Kenneth Cadenhead and Bill Germany,
published 1997 by Gateway Press. Our line is included. The authors' addresses
are included in the book, and if you are interested, e-mail me.
We are told in this publication that John Cadenhead, most probably the son of
James Cadenhead, was born in 1776 in Pitt Co., NC., and moved with his parents
to Georgia in 1784. John first married Martha "Patsy" Whitehead by whom he had
Anna, Leiuticia and Rebecca. The children of his second marriage to Phoebe
Foster were John F., James T., Levi P., Mary Ann, Ivey P., and Francis Marion.

...James and Margaret BOLE CARLILE were the parents of 11 children of whom
John PICKENS CARLILE was one of the youngest.
CONFLICT: John PICKENS CARLILE md. Eliza Jane PATTERSON, said to be daughter
of George and Eleanor PATTERSON. However I think George and Eleanor are too old
to be parents of Eliza if the birth dates of her children are correct - tmc.
ALSO - Eleanor (PICKENS) PATTERSON is said to have died in 1850 - how could
she make affidavit in 1857?

According to what I have, you are confusing William's grandparents for his
parents.
William, b. 1797 in SC, who married Margaret L. Sadler, was the son of James
(1763-1814) and Margaret Boles Carlile.
James (1763-1814) and Margaret's children were Jane, Francis, James, and
Margaret.
James (1763-1814), came to Charleston, SC at age six with his parents, James
and Ann Irvin Carlile from Tarnaneal, County Monahan Ireland. They settled in
Abbeyville, SC
William (1797-1881) had 10 brothers and sisters.
I'm a direct decendant of his older brother, Francis (1786-1860).
Hope this helps clear the fog.
