 "...Around 1916, Charles moved his family North to various locations including
Mount Carmel, Indiana and Kokomo, Indiana, and Detroit, Michigan. They finally
settled in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1937...."

From Karl Pepper, Jan 2000:
 "... Callie was a member of the Westside Methodist Church in Ann Arbor
[Michigan] and a charter member of the Auxiliary Typographical Union.
 Callie Mae was a strong woman and held dear the southern values she was raised
with. She believed in family, cleanliness, and the natural order of the world.
She is missed by all who knew her."
 Callie died on Feb 7, 1961 after a long bout with leukemia."

Pickens to Captain John Pickens Jr. to John Pickens (Livingston, KY) to Alfred
Pickens to John Pickens Married Belle Davis (born 7/4/1848? in Hopkinsville, Ky;
had 9 children, moved to Bloomfield, Missouri 1880? supposedly John and Belle
died within one month of each other in 1900) to John Pickens to James Lewis
Pickens to Callie Mae Pickens who married Charles Norvin Pepper to ** to James
Nelson Pepper (Karls father).  **Karl is not sure of his grandfathers name.  He
also asked if you might have info on George Edward Pepper, his fathers
grandfather, whose wife was Mary Frances Morgan (Stoddard, MO)....

 James Lewis PICKENS was born in McCracken Co, KY... He married Missouri
Caroline SCISM...James later married Katherine REEMER...
 The information I have states James as a farmer in Stoddard County [Missouri],
but my father said he was very active in the community school board, town
council, and he, at one time or another, may have sold insurance.
 He remained in Bloomfield [Missouri] until 1922, when he moved his family to
Detroit Michigan. He worked with the Detroit Transportation Company until his
retirement. On Jan 4, 1937, his wife Missouri died...
 On Nov 20, 1941, James married Katherine L. 'Kitty' REEMER. On April 6, 1956,
while on a trip to Virginia, James and Kitty were killed in an automobile
accident. James was driving and they believe he fell asleep and drove over an
embankment near Staunton, Virginia. He is buried next to his first wife in Royal
Oak Michigan...."
