 "... my dad was Sam Pickens JORDAN born in Clarke Co AL. His grandfather was
Bryant J JORDAN who married Mary A PICKENS. I knew her mother was Catherine
PICKENS and she had settled in Alabama with her husband Joseph, that is where
I was stumped. I have been trying to document census and marriage records on
the names I knew. The list I found on the home page gives a lot of names, but
i would like to find more records and info. Would you please suggest the
counties, records, books etc where i can trace the family into Alabama. thank

 "... My great great grandmother... was Lydia Elvira McKnight. She married
Samuel Revis Moss in 1843 in Robertson County, Texas (Moss Family Bible) and she
died in Beeville, Texas on Feb. 28, 1914.  She was the mother of 10 children.
 All I really knew about her family was her parent's names (from her death
certificate).  I finally figured out from other sources that her mother was
Rachel Pickens. Her father, William McKnight, was the first tax assessor
collector of Robertson County, Republic of Texas. I just recently obtained a
copy of the probate for Rachel Pickens McKnight in Robertson County, Texas.
Rachel died in November 1875 (It was hard to read the year, but since the
probate is January of 1876 I'm guessing that she died in 1875)....
