PICKENS FAMILIES OF THE SOUTH, by E. M. Sharp:
 p. 115. ... Aaron PICKENS was ... on the tax list of Harrison County
Kentucky in 1800. There was also a James PICKENS on the same tax roll in 1800
in Harrison county who appears to be a son of Aaron PICKENS. James later moved
to Indiana.
 James PICKENS was born in Virginia about 1778 according to the statement of
his son James B. PICKENS in 1880, who stated to the census taker that his
father was born in Virginia. The oldes son of James PICKENS was born in 1800,
indicating that James married at least by 1799 or 1800. If James the elder was
born in 1778, Aaron was born at least by 1758...."
