"...My great great grandmother was Malinda Pickens, who married John Work
Patton. Their daughter was Evaline Augusta Patton, 1833-1916, who married,
first, Edward Linn, and then John Cary Minter. Evaline and John Cary's
daughter, Maude Cary Minter, married Robert Pleasant Watt, 1872-1953. Maude and
Robert had two daughters, Katherine Cary Watts, 04/09/02- , and Maude
Minter Watts, 07/12/04-12/19/90.....

ERROR: on p. 118 Sharp lists her at the very bottom of the page under the
family of John and Nancy (PROFFIT) PICKENS. This is an obvious error, as Nancy
died before Elizabeth's birth. It looks as though he tried to fit it onto the
bottom of the page and inadvertently placed her on p. 118 when in fact she
belongs as a child of the family on p. 119 - and is in fact the same as
Elizabeth who is the first person listed at the top of p. 120 - 3rd child of
William and Rebecca (BACHMAN) PICKENS, and granddaughter of John and Nancy

"Dear Terry, I got your GEDCOM file for Lucy PICKENS today. Thanks. You show John FALLS wife as Martha PICKENS. The only wife I have seen for John FALLS was Martha CLARK, the widow of John CLARK. On 10 Aug 1761, a contract was made between John FALLS of Rowan County and Martha CLARK of Anson County allowing her to keep the third part of the estate of her deceased husband, John CLARK. Was this Martha CLARK a PICKENS? Or was John FALLS previously married to a Martha PICKENS? It appears there had to be an earlier marriage since son Gilbreath was born in 1730 (in Chester County, PA?). Where does this Martha PICKENS fit into the PICKENS genealogy? Dear Terry...Since my last request to you, I looked up your web site at our local library and saw that the Martha PICKENS who married John FALLS was the widow of Israel PICKENS. I think John FALLS must have had a still earlier wife since children were being born in the 1730s.
If you are interested in the FALLS line, there were several recent articles in the Rowan County, NC Register. Some of the information appears to be wrong, but I will be glad to S-mail them if you would like them. (Both my wife and myself descend from John FALLS.)... "Dear Terry, Thanks for the additional Falls info. Could it be? Martha
Pickens, widow of Israel, marries (2) John Clark about 1761 (date of prenuptial agreement between Martha Clark and John Falls).
Martha Pickens Falls Clark marries (3) John Falls.
It is interesting that there was a marriage between Israel and Martha Pickens' daughter Hannah and James Clark. Was James related to the above John Clark, perhaps a son, and his (James) daughter, Mary (Martha?) then marries her step brother??
The Lincoln County land records about John Falls on Cathey's Creek refer to
the current Rutherford County, NC area, which was cut off from LIncoln. (It
gets confusing because there is also a Cathey's Creek in Mecklenburg near where the Falls lived.) It is not clear if he ever lived there. His estate was settled in Mecklenburg County.
I will mail you copies of the Falls articles as soon as I get copies made.

today. In my previous message to you, I had speculated that the John Clark who was the husband of the Martha Clark that married John Falls (1761 prenuptional agreement between Martha Clark and John Falls) might be the father of the James Clark who married Hannah Pickens However, the Pickens book states that the father of this James was William Clark.
