David Lafayette HIATT

David's decision to become a lawyer was influenced by his admiration for Elder Charles A. Callis, an apostle in the Mormon Church and a prominent Utah attorney.  He enrolled at Wake Forest College Law School, but had to drop out and teach school to earn enough money to continue.  He also herded cows at a dairy.  His scholastic record was excellent, and he was able to graduate in 1924 without having to take final examinations.

Information sent by Ephraim M. Hiatt, Rt 1 Box 588-A, Mt. Airy, NC  27030  23 May 1985
