Well enough for now, if you can verify and or add to this it would be greatly

This should be what you're looking for. It is taken virtually verbatim from
Rev. E. M. Sharp's book "Pickens Families of the South".
David was the son of Robert Baskin Pickens. The Descendency Outline gives you
his parents, his siblings, and his children.....
[COMMENT: Sharp only lists Robert as 'Robert B.' not Robert Baskin - ref p.
56 - tmc]
"... David moved to Jackson County, Arkansas in 1850 and enlisted in the
Confederate Army in Claiborne County in 1861.

"... Gary [Baucum] and I are related: His great grandfather was William Asa
Baucum from Altus, OK (see his message posted 11-08-98). William Asa's father
was Wiley Baucum (1845-1897). Wiley's brother William Riley Baucum (W. R. Baucum
1853-1883) was my great grandfather.
W. R. Baucum and his wife (Elizabeth Hamilton Pickens Baucum) had both died by
1883, leaving four small children orphaned in Arkansas. Wiley Baucum, his
brother, came from McNairy Co, Tennessee to Arkansas to get the four children,
one of whom was my grandfather (William Edgar Baucum 1878-1915 - he was five
years old at the time). Wiley became their legal guardian back in Tennessee, but
the children were split up among family members to be raised. Wiley and his
wife, Margaret Beard Baucum, took the oldest child John Thomas Baucum with them
when they moved from Tennessee to Arkansas to Texas to Altus, Oklahoma. Wiley
and W.R.'s sister, Eliza Jane Baucum Hill, and her husband Daniel Hill took my
grandfather and his sister Linnie Bell Baucum and raised them in Texas. Cora Lee
Baucum, the youngest, was raised by her mother's sister and her husband (Susan
Pickens Wilson and Hezekiah Wilson) in McNairy Co, Tennessee.
I've always been grateful to Wiley Baucum for what he did for my grandfather
and his siblings. Wiley stepped in to help out several other children orphaned
in the family as well. He was a good man. I compiled information I had on Wiley
Baucum in a 2" looseleaf notebook and sent copies to Baucums I'd spoken to in
Altus, OK and a copy to the Altus public library's genealogy room. (Wiley was
one of the founders of Altus and was their first postmaster.)
Wiley and W. R. and Eliza Jane (and 11 others) were children of Asa Abraham
Baucum and his wife Linnie Rogers Baucum. I have a tremendous amount of
information on this family if anyone else out there is in this family line. I'm
writing it up for Marietta for the new Baucom book.
Asa Abraham Baucum (1807-1895) was born a "BaucOm" in North Carolina and died
a "BaucUm" in Tennessee. He was illiterate so he was at the mercy of the census
takers and county clerks. The Baucum spelling has survived since in both Wiley's
family and in W.R.'s family.
