Hi Larry
I received your unexpected email (below) yesterday. Thank you. Amazing how people interested in genealogy find each other.
My Grandmother was a Hiatt (Jessie Hiatt 1878-1973, lived in IN, CA, & WA)
Her father was Anson Hiatt (of whom my dad had many memories and stories) 1838-1919, lived in IN & CA
His father was Martin Hiatt 1814or15-1866, lived in OH, IN, & Iowa
His father was Jonathan Hiatt 1766-1836, lived in NC and IN.
How are you related to the Hiatt trees? My mother was an amateur genealogist in the days 1960’s – 1990’s before computers. She did tremendous amounts of genealogy on all branches of our family, mostly from personal contacts, snail mail, and researching in trips across the US. She left about 6 feet of 3” ring binders of her research, including 1 binder on the Hiatts. Attached is a scan of the potion of the family tree she put together as it relates to the Hiatts dating back 9 generations into the 1600’s in England.
In our family among the people interested in genealogy are Cathryn Driver (a cousin of mine), Claudia Stockton (my sister, who has the Hiatt binder), Barbara Bruch (a cousin), and myself. I recently retired, so am for the first time beginning to research and verify the trees … I’ve started on my Bruch and Seller / Zeller lines. The Hiatt and Irey lines are awaiting next in line. I’ve copied them of this email so both you and they will have each others email addresses.
I’m presuming the way to contacted me was through Judy Balen. She contacted me last year out of the blue and mailed me a few things. Attached is her email train and a scan of the things she sent me … to keep the MB’s down for email I’m sending it at lower quality .. I could also forward it at higher quality at 11 MB if you’d like. They had originated with Catheryn Driver, my cousin whom I mentioned above.I have a framed memorabilia from re Anson Hiatt’s Civil War background. I’ll send photos in a 2nd email later today.

Hi, was put given your contact so that I could try and make connection and invite to share and expand whatever work we have. I need to eventually find a home for the thousands of letters and documents I have, perhaps the Quaker College in Indiana will take care of my records but still have some time. Would be very interested to know what lines you are working on and how much I may or not have on your families too. Sincerely Larry Anderson
LarryAndy@aol.comHi Larry,
I was able to find a home for the Hiatt information.
Last April sent it to Lee Bruch in Seattle, Wa.
His e-mail is lbruch@nwlink.comIf you haven't already made contact over the years, perhaps you can trade information with him.
Good Luck,Judy

Hello, just saw your message, still have any info? I have been the historian, genealogist for the Hiatt-Hiett Fmailies for 30 years, love to hear from you too. Larry Anderson
LarryAndy@aol.comHi Judy
Thank you for your response and being so thoughtful to save the material.
We highly appreciate it.
Is the amount of material such that it can fit into an envelope?
All of Emro’s grandchildren (my generation) range in age from their 60’s to into their 80’s

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I've been trying to straighten out my home office which includes 20 or so years of genealogy going in about 6 different directions!. When my aunt passed away, no one in her direct line wanted her boxes of notes and papers. I wouldn't let them get thrown away.... that would be a sin... like burning books!! I've kept my direct line, Chadwell, Gorham, Shuey and the connectors. Her husband's family was Slayton. I've found a very good home for those records too. Her husband's sister, Bertha Slayton, married Wilmer Hiatt. So, in a round-about way, I think this info was given to Alzora Snyder (another Slayton? rel) who, in turn sent it to Aunt Edna (the genealogist) by Cathryn Driver.
These are probably a duplicate of things you already have... but I sure would like to send them to you, and let you decide. In the "small world department", my sister lives in Montesano (Grays Harbor Co) and my nephews family is in Olympia.

I received your message below from a roots-web listserv.
The Emro you mention was my grandfather.
He had 5 children: 3 sons and two daughters. All of his many grandchildren are still alive, including those you listed and others, all of whom I am in contact with, some of whom are very interested in genealogy. Although he had many, many grandchildren, I am the only direct male descendant, although he did have some male great-grandchildren..
I am cc’ing my sister who is also interested in genealogy. She and I and Cathryn Driver all are interested in genealogy and have large collections of info.Incidentally, by chance is any of the information from a Georgeanna (Jo) Bruch? She’s my mother. She did lots of genealogy research back in the 70’s and 80’s and got me, Claudia, and Cathryn all started.

LBruch@nwlink.comHi All,
My late aunt, Edna Chadwell Slayton, did a lot of "old fashioned" research in the 1960's and 70's. I have become the proud keeper of all her reseach. If the records are not blood relation to me.. I try to find a good home for them.
