Louis MARCEL "Beaumont" FALGOUT
from Doc F-147-3, page 140:"The Falgoust ancestors were originally from the
south of France. The Louisana branch descends from Louis Marcel Falgoust, the
son of Pierre Falgoust and Catherine Courault, who came to Louisana from
Touraine around 1739. he married at the German Coast in 1742 to marie Jeanne
Castan, the daughter of Joseph Castan and Claudine Volmar.
from FHGF, Doc F-146-1:"'The 17th of January 1712, was baptised Louis Marsel,
son of Monsieur Pierre Falgou, master surgeon, and of Madame Catherine
Courault, his wife; the godfather, Louis Courault, tonsured cleric; the
godmother, Renee de Massalue, wife of Monsieur Guillaume Barrere, master
surgeon.' Signed:L. Courault; Renee Massalue; P. Falgoust; Pallu, cure chanoine
de Langeais.
Thus begins the story of the sixth generation Falgoux descendant, who was
destined to become the founder of the American branch of the Falgoust and
Falgout families. Louis' godfather was his great-uncle, the cleric, Louis
Courault, and his godmother was his great-aunt, Renee Massalue. ...
It is not surprising that Louis became a surgeon, since four of his ancestory
were apothecary-surgeons or surgeons. ...
Later records point to the fact that Louis was a well-educated man, and that
he was a respected surgeon in the Lousiana colony. ... he came to the colony of
Louisiana around the year 1739. ..."
