State Senator from Warren Co. NC. Surveyor who layed out the city of Raleigh. Commanded an Indian rifle company in the Revolutionary War under GEN Nathaniel Green. Fought at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse.
Enlisted in the US Navy 2 Nov 1942. Discharged 10 Nov 1945 as Carpenter's Mate 1st Class at the US Naval Separation Center, Shoemaker, CA. Served in the Naval Construction Battalion - Sea Bees - and was assigned to Dutch Harbor, Alaska 1943, and Ulithi and Saipan in 1944/45. Stationed at Camp Roberts and Port Hueneme between overseas assignments in 1944 when he and Juanita were married.
