In "Old Land Records of Colbert County Alabama" Wm. H. Wharton is listed as buying a lot in Tuscumbia 3 Nov 1820 certificate number 732.
The following advertisment was published in "The Tuscumbian" 11 Mar 1824: "Doctors Clay & Wharton having associated themselves together in the Practice of Medicine, tender their services to the public in the different branches of their profession. In all cases requiring it, their united attention will be given without an additional charge."

Clayton's History of Davidson County . . . page 285 "Wharton (William H.) M.D., was born in Albemarle Co., Va., July 6, 1790; died in Nashville, Tenn., May 4, 1872. He was a graduate in medicine in the Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, and commenced the practice in North Alabama, at Tuscumbia. Removed to Nashville in 1843, he continued in active practice to his election of State Librarian for Tennessee. Dr. Wharton was an excellent practitioner, a man of integrity, and an active Christian gentleman."

Will recorded in Davidson County will book 8, page 383, 17 Dec 1824. Will signed 26 Oct 1815. Will leaves all property, negros, etc. to William and Elizabeth. Codicil to will signed 21 Aug 1824 names Samuel Wharton and Samuel Seay as executioners, leaves Samuel Seay and daughter Jane a negro boy.
Atkins (Adkins) is mentioned in numerous land deeds in Northampton, Bute, Granville, and later Franklin and Warren Counties.
State Records NC page 370 lists Muster Roll of the Regiment in Granville County, under the command of Colo. William Eaton, as taken at a general muster of the said Regiment 8 Oct 1754. Atkins McLemore is listed on page 377 in Captain Sugan Jone's (his future brother in law) Company.
The County of Warren, North Carolina, 1586-1917 by Manly Wade Wellman page 58 "Such a remote homestead might have seemed lonely, especially with Warrenton and Hannah Plummer twelve miles away. There were but few neighbors at hand, and Nathaniel Macon's only relative closer than Shocco Creek was his mother's sister Sarah, the wife of prosperous Atkin McLemore."
Bute County NC court minutes 15 Nov 1771 orders Adkin McLamore be "sercher" in Hawkins district.
Atkins McLemore's signature is on the Bute County List of Oath of Allegiance, July 8, 1775, Thomas M. Pittman Collection, NC State Archives.
Colonial Records NC page 524 Friday April 19th 1776 lists Adkin McLemore as representative from Bute County, and was appointed to "receive, procure, and purchase fire arms for the use of the troops"
State Records NC page 655 14 April 1778 "In the House of Commons: At a General Assembly, begun and held at New Bern, on the 14th day of April, in the year of our Lord 1778, and in the second year of the independence of the said State, being the first session of this Assembly" lists Adkin M.Lemon as representative for Bute.
State Records NC page 751 1 May 1778 "The bill for procuring the great seal for this State, was read the third time, passed and ordered to be sent to the Senate. Sent by Mr. Turner and Mr. McLemore."
Laws of North Carolina-1779 page 293 establishes the town of Warrenton and appoints Adkin McLemore as a commissioner and trustee.
1779 Bute County land grants No. 25 and 75 to Adkin McLemore 247 acres and 500 acres respectively.
Taxable of Warren County, 1781 lists Adkin McLemore with an assessed worth of 17422 pounds, by far the most in his district.
State Census of North Carolina 1784-1787 Warren County lists Atkins McLemore 1wm 21-60 yrs, 3 wm under 21 and above 60, 3 wf all ages, 13 blacks 12-50, 9 blacks under 12 and above 50.
