Historical Notes:

(1) Robert J. Barker was a well educated man.  He was one of the engineers of
the first Legislature of the Oklahoma Territory.  He introduced the first bill
establishing the Agricultural College at Guthrie, Oklahoma.  He was appointed
as the first President of the College.  He was appointed to that post by
President William Henry Harrison.  After serving the college for several years,
he was appointed Post Master at Crescent City, Oklahoma.
