  Wilford and his wife, Effie, reared their family on the farm where it took
all members of the family working together to earn their living.  In the winter months, my Dad rode a mule four or five miles each way to get a few extra hours with the North Carolina Granite Inc to help support his family.
  When he retired, we moved off the farm, rented it out, and lived on highway 89 in the Bannertown section.  He then worked some years as a salesman.
  Mother was known as a woman of patience and courage.  She did all she could for her family.  Not only her family, but giving many hours in service to her neighbors and friends in sickness and death.
  They are of the Morman faith, and tryed as best they could to be active in
the church.  Wilford is still living as 92 years old and enjoys reading.
  As a young man, he enjoyed baseball and was a catcher for his team.
