He came from Norwich, Norfolk, Eng in 1635, Went early from Watertown, Ma to Martha's Vineyard, probally with Thomas Mayhew. He bestowed great pains in teaching the Indians, as successor to Mayhew, and removed about 1663 to Nantucket, where his name was held in high regard. "From History of Nantucket, by Starbuck 1924."
