(1) Thomas Cooke was appointed Surveyor of Gloucester and Middlesex in 1707, by
Colonel Miles Cary, Surveyor General for William and Mary College. In his
contract he agrees to give one sixth of his receipts to said College. In 1717
he was reappointed to the same position by Peter Beverly, the successor of
Miles Cary.
