(1) Johannes Vermilyea was a leader in the church and civil affairs; he was in
Leisler's Council; he was committed to guards for treason, but was later
pardoned by the King on February 20th, 1653, and was liberated by Governor
Fletcher.
(1) Issac Vermilyea and family were Walloon Refugees to London. Isaac was an
early settler of Harlem, where he came after 1637.
