Nelson A. MARTIN

Nelson was illiterate, but not Dumb.  He signed his name with an "X" on his son Albert's wedding application.

1850 census, Pickaway Co., Ohio  Tobias was 72  M  Mass.;  Nancy was 26 F Virginia,
Nelson  F.,  Pennsylvania.

IGI in Virginia has the following:  Nelson M.  b. 1838  Virg.  Their was a Nelson Martin born to a Manning Martin and Mary, in Tyler Co., Virginia.  Check furthor.

FTW CD's # 7, 9, 12, and 16.  United Ancestor's #100.

The Martin men were mostly farmers.

Mary Jane MITCHELL

Mary Jane was born 16 Dec. 1829.  Mary Jane is buried in Belleville, Republic, Kansas on 2 Feb. 1909, next to her husband, Nelson, in an unmarked grave.  She was 84 years of age.  It was stated on her death record that her father was Nelson Martin.  This was an error.

She was a housewife.  Nelson and Mary Jane were buried in a cemetery at Belleville, Republic, Kansas. Don Lucier and his mother, Sarah searched for the graves, but couldn't find them.  They did manage to find some newspaper clippings regarding the deaths.

Mary Jane gave birth to Albert when she was 38 years of age. ( Albert thought it was after she was 40.)  His brother Sherman was a year older than Albert.

She and Nelson were Married and Sealed in the Boise Temple 15 Nov., 1984.  #37516
