Lynnville Centennial 1875-1975
Seth Allee, son of Parkhurst and Belinda Hiatt Allee, was born at
Knightstown, Ind. October 4, 1848. In 1866 he came with his parents to Iowa
locating in the Lynville area. He died January 23, 1932. He married Minerva
Gause, daughter of James and Racheal Gause, in 1867. She was born in
Spiceland, Ind. October 20, 1848. She came to Lynnville, Iowa in 1857, and
died August 15, 1915. To this union were born three childre: Mrs. Al (nora)
Meredith of McAllen, Texas; Will Allee of Lynnville, Iowa. Mrs. Fred (Ada)
Wagaman of Lynnville, Iowa. Both Seth and Minerva were birthright members of
the Friends Church. Seth helped hew the ties for the Rock Island railroad. He was a carpenter, a school board member, a town councilman and clerk. He was also secretary of the Old Settlers Association and hadn't missed Old Settlers in 61 years. He was well known as an orchardist having nearly every kind of fruit on his place. Minerva's brother, Zachariah Gause, was named with Macy and Rayburn in the additions of the town of Lynnville.
