Dennis Andrew TEETER

The family farm home was in Section 15, Spring Creek twp, Black Hawk Co,IA.

    Information from local newspaper clipping (abridged):"Dennis A Teeter
passed away at the Prebyterian hospital at 3 o'clock am.  He had not been
in the best of health for a number of years, and had submitted to several
operations in the past in order to obtain relief.  But for the past year
or more he was in his usual health and able to attend to his various
duties.  For some time past he has been operating a wood and log sawing
outfit, and on Friday before his death had just completed a log sawing
contract.  On Saturday he became ill and suffered great pain, from which
he could gain no relief.  He was taken to the hospital at Waterloo Sunday
evening on the 6:07 WCF&N and Monday afternoon underwent an operation in
hope that his suffering would be relieved and his life spared.  It was
found that he was suffering from a stoppage of the bowels, brought about
by adhesions caused by former operations.  The patient was in a more
serious condition than was expected, and was not able to withstand the
shock occasioned by the operation and passed away about 3:00 o'clock

Mildred "Millie" HAMILTON

Mildred 'Millie' Hamilton was one of the twin daughters of the late Elihu
and Mary [Kimball] Hamilton. She was born May 7, 1871 on a farm northeast
of La Porte City in Spring Creek twp and grew to womanhood there.[Extract
from obituary]/CGT/Note: her twin named "Lillie."

Information taken from newspaper clipping of local paper:"Mrs Mille
Teeter, 83, member of a pioneer family of Spring Creek Twp, Black Hawk Co
and life long resident of La Porte City and vicinity, succumbed to death
at 2:30 am Monday in the Ramus Convalescent home of La Porte City. Death
terminated several years of failing health and three weeks of critical
illness due to heart disease and complications.  Mildred Hamillton was one
of the twin daughters of the late Elihu and Mary Kimble Hamilton.  She was
born May 7, 1871, on a farm northeast of La Porte City in Spring Creek
township and grew to womanhood there. August 13, 1985 she married Dennis
Teeter of near La Porte City, in Waterloo.  They farmed in Spring Creek
twp until retiring in 1904 and moving to the residence on North Commercial
St in La Porte City that remained her home until the last few weeks before
her death.  Surviving are one daughter, Mrs Melvin [Thelma] Flaskerud,
Cedar Falls; three grandsons, Russell Flaskerud of Tulsa, OK, Donald
Flaskerud of Denver, CO, and Lt Lyle Flaskerud, McConnell AFB, KS; one

Elihu HAMILTON

Elihu Hamilton was born in Indiana; came to Spring Creek township with his
parents in 1854.  There were 9 of 11 children then living./CGT/

Elihu died at his home in La Porte City, IA, about 8 o'clock in the
morning; from a stroke suffered earlier about 2 o'clock A.M. on Monday, 5
Jul 1909./CGT/


Mary KIMBLE

Mary Kimball was born at Ithica, New York, Oct 8, 1851 and came to Iowa
with her parents at the age of 5 years, where they settled on a farm in
Poyner township, Blackhawk Co., IA, where she continued to reside until
her marriage to Elihu Hamilton on Nov 11, 1868.  After her marriage they
moved to a farm in Spring Creek twp where they lived until March 1900,
when the family came to La Porte City where she has since maintained her
home.  Her husband passed away in this city July 5, 1909. [Extract from

Mrs Mary (Kimble) Hamilton died at her home in La Porte City at 4:15 A.M.
Wednesday after  suffering a heart attack the previous evening.  She lived
alone and Tuesday night she suddenly  became ill  but was able to summon
help. All possible was done to relieve her intense suffering but she soon
became unconscious and remained so until death. [Extracted from

Martha June MILLER

Obituary from local paper:  Martha "June" Smith of La Verne died in Los
Angeles Thursday [Dec 26, 1985].  She was born in Waterloo, Iowa, June 8,
1910, and moved to La Verne in 1932.  She was a member of the La Verne
Church of the Brethren.  She was active in the Pomona Ebell Club for a
number of years.  She leaves her husband, Galen J.; three sons, Lewis J.
of Corvalis, Ore., and Larry G. and Robert G., both of La Verne; a
brother, Paul Miller of Waterloo, Iowa; a sister, Julia Martin of Upland;
three granddaughters, Kelly L., Stacy R. and Kasey, R., and three
grandsons, Korey L., Stephen J., and Jeffrey A.  A memorial service will
be held Tuesday [Dec. 31] at 11 a.m. at the Breon Chapel at Hillcrest
Homes in La Verne.  Burial will be made at La Verne Cemetery.  Friends may
call at Todd Memorial Chapel Pomona today from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Memorial
cont;ributions may be made to the La Verne Church of the Brethren, 2425 E
