John BLACKBURN Jr.


“In its early years Menallen Meeting was distinctively an irish meeting, the majority of its members being from Ireland.  Among them were John Balckburn, Judge of the York County Court in 1764, County Treasurer in 1759 and 1766 and member of the Assembly.”  pgs 71 & 72


“In 1755, he joined the forces sent to subdue the Indians and was disowned by the Society.” Pg 71


Thomas BLACKBURN


“At Dunnings Creek, near Bedford, settled Thomas Blackburn, of Menallen, ancestor of the numerous progeny of the name in Bedford County (Virginia?).  (See History of Bedord County, 282).  Benjamin Walker, of Warrington, York County, notes in his diary, 12 Mo., 5, 1783: ‘to Bedford then Thos, Blackburns on Dennings Creeck Lodged.’” pg 77

Jacob MCGEE

From family records of Annis and Mayme Bales, Linneus, Mo.  The Camp
Ground Cem. is located near Osgood, Sullivan Co., Mo.  He died at the age of 68 yeras 7 months and 15 days.
                          Jacob and Nancy Teague McGee
   Jacob was born in Irendell Co., NC, May 20, 1802, the son of John R. McGee and his first wife, whose name this writer does not know.  John R. Mcgee married a second wife and tehy were parents of Polly McGee and Frank McGee, teh half sister of Jaob McGee.  In 1823, Jacob McGee married Nancy Teague, born January 15, 1808, in South Carolina.  Jacob and Nancy lived in a log cabins and they cooked by fireplace in ovens or legged skillets with lids to fit closely.  They would burn the wood to red coals then put the coals under and over skillets or bake ovens, to cook the hod hooking in teh fireplace some way to hang the boing hettle on and tehy would roast otate in the hot ashes close to the fire.  They kept no slaves.  Jacob was an over-seer of plantations.  Throught the yeas, 1824 to 1854, there were elven children born to Jacob and Nancy Teague McGee.  In 1836, the parents and hcildren, John, Millia Serena, James Avery, Eunice Catherine and Margaeret Avaline, departed from Irendell co., NC.  The McGee family moved from locality, traveling by horse back to East Tennessee, Anderson County.  During theis residence thow of here children were born, Polly Ann and and David Hill Crockett McGee.  The McGee lived in Tennessee until the sri go 1842 when they migrated to Johnson family.


Nancy TEAGUE

    She died at the age of 88 years and 25 days.

  This material was sent to me by Mayme L. Bales, Linneus, Missouri, in 1961 ...... "The "Bits" I recorded on the Holloway and Beals or Bales families cover what I most desire when I am on a family quest for data, and only hope that someone in the futuer will appreciate the efforts made."

  Isaac Holloway came from England to Safford County, in old Virginia and married mary Ann Haines.  Their heirs were:
Amos, Acey, William, Cace, Able, Mary, Sarah, Abner, and Nathan.

William Holloway married Sarah Stansley of Irish descent and they moved to Carmel County, Virginia, in 1790.  Their heirs were:  *John, born 1791;  He married Miss Levicey Hodgson, in 1817;

Elizabeth, born 1793 married Joab Thornbury;
Grace, born 1795;
Samuel, born 1797;
Pleasant, born 1799 married Permelia Stanley;
George born 1801 marrid Suphire Truuat;
Sarah, born 1803 married William Dickey;
and
William, born 1805.  Apparently the William of 1805 moved to Ohio, in 1814, with his father.


John R. MCGEE

Information from Mayme and Annis Bales of Linneus, MO.  John was married twice.  Some say he was born in County down, Ireland and came to America in 1801 when he was 20 years old.  It is thought that his first wife was Mary Munday, but no positive proof. The first child of the first marriage, was Jacob.
