Twin of Robert Wilson Hiatt. According to Paul Hiatt of Amelia, son of Arther Hiatt: "Dad said Grandfather was a twin and that his mother died when he was born. He was raised by his uncle Daniel Hiatt.
He also said that his dad said that there was an elderly lady of the Roberds family who was related to them living nearby. Don't know what relationship."

See the Peru, Madison Co., Cem. for at Arthur and his wife, Mattie, or Maude (McGee). Cem. headstone has the name of Mattie J. born 1857, died 1937. Also next to them is their son Clifford M. Hiatt, 1878 to 1966. The HH book has no further information on these children of Arthur William Hiatt.

Arthur Hiatt, son of Peru's founder, had a large hotel in East Peru, Iowa. By 1918 the hotel was owned by his son and daughter, Clifford and Nora, who also operated the Peru telephone switchboard (located in the hotel).
