Hon John VINING
HON JOHN VINING April 28, 1749 in by Rev Arthur Usher. He was born Abt. 1724, and died November 13, 1770 in St John's Episcopal Church Salem Co NJ.
HON JOHN VINING: John owned a large tract land in Salem Co NJ & removed from thence to the State of Delaware having settled at or near Dover, in that State & such was the exalted charater he sustained that he was elected to the highest office there. On one of his visits to Salem, he was taken sick & died & was buried in the aisle of the Episcopal Church (St John's) Upon the stone covering his Sepulahre is the epitaph: In Memory of Hon John Vining, ESQ Speaker of the three Lower Counties of Delaware who departed this life 11/13/1770 age 46 years.
