Andrew J. Middlesworth - Again the grim reaper, death, has visited our community and called our beloved neighbor and friend, Andrew J. Middlesworth, son of Anthony, deceased, and Jane Middlesworth, was born in York Twp., Union County Ohio Feb. 06, 1851. His boyhood days were spent in said township. When he was about twenty years of age he chose Jesus Christ as his helper and friend and united with the York Baptist Church south of Byhalia at that time, but now disorganized. On Feb. 07, 1880, he was united in marriage with Emma C. Spicer also of York Township. The bride's church relations were with the York Presbyterian Church, therefore Andrew had his membership changed to the Presbyterian society and moved his membership to the Friends Church of Byhalia, to which church he has ever been loyal and faithful, striving continually to advance Christ's kingdom here among men. Andrew and Emma lived most happily together bearing one another's burdens until October 29, 1907, when the death angel called for the wife. For about fourteen months Andrew's home was very sad and lonely. Dec. 31, 1908, sunshine again came in his home when he was married to Lily May Case. That union, though for such a brief time, was full of happiness and comfort. His illness was but for a very few days and on April 14, 1909 he was called to leave his beautiful home here and go to the mansion prepared for him and to leave the church militant and unite with the church triumphant. Andrew passed out of this life into the great beyond at the age of 58 years, 2 months, 8 days. He will be greatly missed in the church and neighborhood. Our loss is his eternal gain. He leaves a devoted companion, a saintly mother, two brothers, William and Frank; two sisters, Margaret Middlesworth and Mrs. James Shirk of Marysville, and an innumerable throng of relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
Andrew's first wife, Emma Spicer, was the sister of Attorney H.V. Spicer of Richwood.
Funeral services wre held Friday at 2 o'clock in the Friends Church at Byhalia and interment was made in the village cemetey.

The Richwood Gazette, Thursday, Nov. 07, 1907Emma C. Spicer-Middlesworth was born Feb. 17, 1851 and departed this life Oct. 29, 1907, making her sojourn in this world 55 years, 8 months and 12 days. She joined the York Presbyterian Church about 1875 and continued an active Christian the remainder of her life. On Feb 17, 1880 she was united in marriage with Andrew J. Middlesworth. She leaves a husband, two sisters, four brothers and many friends to mourn her departure. During the last few years the deceased was with us, she was more active in church work. She had a bright experience which showed that she was traveling on the King's highway. During her last illness she was conscious to the very last. She stated that she was trusting in her Savior and just before she closed her life here she expressed a wish to sleep in Jesus.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Schaffner-Denzer Funeral Home in Marion by Rev. Howard L. Olewiler for Dr. D.F. Spicer, retired osteopath, who died at 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, after a month's illness. He formerly resided in this vicinity. Burial was made in Marion Cemetery.
A native of Union County he was born August 14, 1860 and was married to Nettie L. Burkhart.
He leaves his widow, who makes her home in Columbus, a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence E. Newall, of Columbus; one grandchild and a brother, H.V. Spicer of Delaware.The Spicer Genealogy: David Franklin, b. Aug 14, 1860; m. Dec 24, 1898, Nellie G. Dau. of John and Anna Burkhart; dau.: Kathryn, b May 17, 1907. He and Mrs. Spicer are osteopathic physicians of Boonville, Mo.

Richwood relatives have received word of the death of Henry V. Spicer, 91, which occurred July 12 in Newport Richey, Fla., where he resided with his daughter, Miss Clara Spicer.
Mr. Spicer and his family lived in Richwood and Delaware for many years where he was an attorney at law. Some four years ago he moved to Florida. His wife died some years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Clara, with whom he resided and Mrs. Alice Harris of Bluefield, West Virginia. He was an uncle of Myrtle Johnson of Richwood and a cousin of Mrs. Lou Sayer, northeast of Richwood.
Funeral services were held in Florida and burial was made there.

Mrs. Lillian Spicer, 71, died Sunday morning at 5:10 at her home at 22 South Liberty Avenue following an illness of six weeks.Mrs. Spicer has lived in Delaware for the past 30 years, coming here from Richwood. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, W.C.T.U., W.B.A., Filomena Club and Caliwasa Club.
Surviving are her husband Henry V. Spicer; two daughters, Mrs. E.W. Harris of Bluefield WV and Clara, at home; one brother, Charles Kohl of San Diego California and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Robinson-Brackney Funeral Parlor.
Burial will be made in Claibourne Township Cemetery near Richweed. Friends may call at the funeral home.
