Mummey, Marietta Spicer
11 Apr 1864 - 07 June 1904
Union County Journal, Marysville OH June 16, 1904
The remains of Mrs. Tobias Mummey, of Woodstock, were brought to this city
and interred in Oakdale Cemetery. Her death resulted from an operation
known as "Caesarian Section", the child delivered being dead but weighing 15
lbs. Funeral services were held in the Christian Church in that village
conducted by Rev. E.H. Snow of North Lewisburg and the remains were conveyed
here by undertaker Tom Davis of Mechanisburg.
Deceased was a daughter-in-law of Isaac Mummey, of the Waldo Road and a
sister-in-law of Mrs. Frank Munnel, Mrs. Charles Wilcox and Mrs. William
Kimball of this city.
She was aged 41 years and leaves a husband and eight children. That
misfortunes never comes singly is an adage that has striking illustration in
Mr. Mummey's experience. A year or so ago his oldest daughter tried to
commit suicide and shortly thereafter the second one endeavored to poison
the entire family and was sent to the Girls Industrial Home. Now his wife
is taken away leaving a large family of helpless little children.
Was Interred at Oakdale
