George Layton, 90, Farmer and former resident of Utica , died today at 9:30 a.m. in Newark Hospital . He was admitted to the hospital a week ago from the Sherman nursing home.A native of Muskingum County , he was born Oct. 9, 1857, the son of Robert and Sarah Layton and is the last of his family. His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Layton, died in 1945. Seven children survive: Mrs. N. Hardesty of Conesville, Robert Layton of near Newark, Mrs. John Siegle, Mrs. Reece Evans, Mrs. Charles Crawford, George Layton and Harrison Layton all of Newark; also a step-daughter, Mrs. Artis Shuce of Newark. Mr. Layton was a member of the Baptist church of Dresden and funeral services will be held in the church Saturday at 2 p.m. with burial in Dresden cemetery. The body is at the Householder funeral home.

Mrs. Elizabeth Layton, 74 Utica, died Saturday at 11:45 p.m. in the Sherman Rest home, 492 South Second Street, following a lingering illness.The deceased was born March 21, 1871 in St. Louisville, the daughter of Daniel and Mary Ritter Spicer.
She is survived by her husband, George W. Layton; one son, Gail Smith of Utica; four daughters, Mrs. George Shuce, Newark; Mrs. John Arringron, Columbus; Miss Hazel Ann Smith, Akron, and Mrs. John Colvin, Bridgeport W.Va.; eight step-children Robert, George and Harrison Layton, Mrs. John Siegle, Mrs. Reese Evans, Mrs. Charles Crawford and Mrs. Paul Shaw, all of Newark, Mrs. Noah Hardesty, Conesville, and three grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Criss Brothers funeral home and funeral services will be held there Tuesday at 2 p.m. Rev. A.B. Cox will officiate and burial will be made in Evans Cemetery , St. Louisville.

Raymond, one mile west of Utica , and had pitched a load of hay off the wagon into the low. He then got off the wagon and had just placed one foot on a wheel to get on the wagon again when he fell backwards, and expired in a few minutes. He leaves a wife and two children. The funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock.(John was the first husband of Blanche Elizabeth Spicer, daughter of Daniel and Mary Ellen Ritter Spicer.)

William Bernard Waddell, 79, died this morning in his home at 500 Crystal Ave. after a short illness.
He was a retired carpenter of the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co., where he was employed for 30 years. He was a resident of Mt. Vernon for 65 years. He was a World War I veteran and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Waddell is survived by his wife, Velma E., a daughter Mrs. Louise Hunter, Mt. Vernon ; four sons; James and Charles of Mount Vernon, Jack of Fredericktown and Homer of Spring, Texas ; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Leo of Mount Vernon and James of Florida.
Calling hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the North funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the First Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Jack Archer officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens .
