Jonathan SPICER

The Spicer Genealogy, page 184: Jonathan Spicer. His name appears as John
Spicer in a Patent for 152 acres of land, S.E.1/4 sec. 23, T. 2, R. 6, which is
recorded in U. S. Land Office Records, Zanesville, Ohio, Vol. H. Page 225.
Patent dated Oct. 1, 1824. Upon this land he built his home and resided there
until his death.
The family name of his wife, Lavinia, according to her grandson, Henry V.
Spicer, was Barnes. His father, David Wilson Spicer, told him the name was
Barnes and his brother, William, was given the name Barnes for a middle name in
honor of his grandmother.
