Larry Anderson - Families and Individuals

Notes

Thomas HIATT

There was a brother of our John Hiatt who was living in Ireland when in
about 1715 a nephew, Elijah Hiatt, son of John Sr. was visiting him.  Elijah
and Thomas are supposed to have gone to join with the Hopewell MM abt. 1715.
Some of that family are said to have gone into SC and into Kentucky.  In the
census of 1790 there were some of the descendants living close together and
compared relationship.  Two were the grandchildren of Thomas and the third was a grandson of Elijah and claimed to be cousins.  There was a good deal of
research on these families undertaken by Elizabeth Hyatt Ogden and continued by her niece, Aeola Hyatt Brennerman of Hyannis, NE.

There are also bounteous records concerning these families researched by
Nellie Corcharan of St. Louis, Mo.  Nellie has not as of yet shared this
information with us but we would hope that her information will be available to researchers in the near future.

Of the families who appeared in the Madison Co., KY census of 1790-1810,
there is a Thomas and John who were brothers and an Elijah who was a cousin.
Thomas and John were from the Thomas line, Elijah from the Elijah who was
reported to have been a son of John and Mary Hieght, our Quaker Imm.  To date, our records are mainly absent of any record of these families.  This Thomas was allgedly born in Wales.  There is no proof of this relationship at this time and we only include him here as a place to hold information if it is forth coming and thereby hopefully be able to confirm or disprove lineage.  It will not hurt to recognize his presence in some form as there has been many intermingling of these families.  Hopefully there will be proof forthcoming on these families.
