Millikan) John & Sarah came from NC to East Tenn. before it became a state.
Settled first in Green Co., later that part of Green Co. became Jefferson Co.John and Sarah,. Lived in Chester County, Pennsylvania until 1784, and then moved to New Garden MM., Guilford County, North Carolina, Then moved to Lost Creek, Jefferson County, Tennessee. John Mills was a weaver by trade, and had a mill on his farm for fulling his cloth. John left part of his family at a Quaker settlement in then Green County, Tennessee, and he and his eldest sons built a cabin about one and a half miles east of a place where Lost Creek sinks under Mahoney Hill, they cleared 10 acres and planted a crop. William his son was a hunter and housekeeper until Sarah came with the younger children. The nearest postoffice was in Greenville, Tennessee, 60 miles away. The first Quaker meetings in Lost Creek settlement was held at the John Mills cabin. John was buried in the graveyard by the Quaker Meeting House.
