Obituary


Jeraldene LaRue "Jerri" Gardner, 73, of Ogden, Utah, died Sept. 19, 2009, at her home.
Jerri was born Oct. 20, 1935, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Francis Alonzo Eckersley and Velma Hansen Eckersley. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls, then obtained her cosmetology license at beauty school in Colorado.
She married Jay Nathaniel Gardner on Oct. 15, 1953, in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Denver LDS Temple in Colorado. She was a homemaker and mother and also worked as a bookkeeper at Walgreen's, Bonanza and V-1 Oil. Jerri has lived her life in Idaho Falls and Caldwell, Idaho; Riverton, Wyo.; Denver, Colo.; and Ogden, Utah. Jay passed away Oct. 26, 1992. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jerri enjoyed sewing, cooking and cleaning.
Survivors include her children, Ron Gardner of Ontario, Ore., and Michael Gardner, Brent (Ylonda) Gardner, Sandra Matthews and Todd (Tammy) Gardner, all of Ogden, Utah; siblings, LaMont (Sue) Eckersley of Clovis, Calif., Delores (Wes) Hudman of Shelley, and Barbara (Grant) Richards and LaDene (Max) Lyon, both of Ammon; sister-in-law, Bernice Eckersley of Fremont, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Scott Gardner; and a brother, Wallace Eckersley.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Fielding Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.woodfuneralhome.com .
