George Washington DUNNAGAN (DOAS)

George Washington Dunagan was the second largest sheep rancher in Sonora, Texas He had two sisters, Sofia and Mary and a brother Dave, according to Aunt Margaret Dunagan.  His father's name, we think, was George also.  He was born in either Oklahoma or Texas and lived in San Saba, Texas as a child.  Raised cotton.  We think his mother's name was Sofia or Mary as one of the girls was named for her mother.

His first cousin Steven Dunagan was instrumental in his moving his family to Animas Valley and four of his children, Alvin, Eunice, George and Jewel drove to Steven's ranch to go to school with his children.

Information obtained from his daughter, Christina Hope Dunagan Simmons and from Margaret Smith Dunagan who was married to George Monroe Dunagan.  Also from the 1900 census, Sutton County Texas 1900 census, and the Animas, NM cemetery.
