From: New Castle Weekly Courier, Apr 28, 1876, Reminiscence by J C Beck....."On June 10, 1852, a man of family who lived on the Middletown Rd about 2miles north and west of New Castle was missing. He had told his family he would go out back of the field, and cut some wood. His daughter blew the dinner horn but he came not. His wife and daughter went out to hunt him: they found he had blazed a path, cutting the under brush and laying it on either side, and soon the daughter saw her father swinging in the air, dead, stark, and stiff. The reputed cause was the bad conduct of his son, then in Iowa, but in my opinion was insanity that caused Benoni Pressnall to commit suicide, inasmuch, as he was when a young man subject to fits of melancholy."
