Ransom Hatch was born in Farmersville, New York, later mov ed with his family to Nauvoo, Illinois, and went to Utah ab out 1850. He was baptized into the LDS Church in 1842. He f irst married Frances Elizabeth Atkinson (born in New Brunsw ick, Canada, 1836) in December 1854, then Lavern Bidwell (b orn in Farmersville, New York, 1833) in the summer of 1856 , and Emma Ford (born in England in 1842) in 1863. Ransom H atch had large families with all three of his "plural" wive s. He shares a grave marker with his first wife; his secon d wife is buried next to them; and his third wife is burie d nearby. The LDS practice o f "plural" marriage did not begin until later and, in fact , according to the gedcom file of loseci@mail.deseretonline .com, Ira Stearns Hatch was not baptized as a Mormon unti l 1834.
"Ranson" is listed as her son in Ruth Gardiner Hall's boo k on descendants of Gov. William Bradford.

Whe n the saints left Kirtland , the Hatch family left and wen t to Nauvoo, Illinois . Ransom was only 19 when the saint s were driven from Nauvoo , including the Hatch family. The y settled on a farm near St. Louis, Missouri , until the fa ll of 1849 , when they left with the Allen Taylor Company f or the Valley. They settled in Bountiful where Ransom met a nd married Frances . He was associated with his father an d brothers in farming, stockraising, and sheepraising.
