William A JENKINS

Volunteered 5 Jun 1861 when he was 25 at same time with his brother John.  He was elected 2nd Lt. but was defeated for re-election when the company reorganized in Apr 1862.  He made sergeant in May 1863.  Wounded, he was taken prisoner at Chancellorsville 3 May 1863 and was a POW at Fort Delaware, DEL and was exchanged at City Point, VA, 23 May 1863.  He was at Appomattox Court House, VA for the surrender 9 Apr 1865.  Sgt CO H 21 REG NC


John J JENKINS

Volunteered 5 Jun 1861 at Surry with his brother William.  He was taken prisoner the 3rd or 4th of May 1863 around Chancellorsville, VA and was a POW at Old Capitol Prison, Wash. D.C. and at City Point, VA.  He remained there for exchange 23 May 1863.  He was again taken prisoner 2 Oct 1864 at Mt. Crawford, VA and was a POW at Point Lookout, MD.  He was paroled there and sent to James River, VA, at Bouleware's Wharf 31Mar 1865.  Pvt. CO H 21 REG NC
