Gibbons, Seattle, Wash.
Mrs. Sarah A. Fawcett born: December 20, 1837
died: December 23, 1916Mrs. Sarah Ann Fawcett, daughter of Jesse and Ruthanna Hiatt was born
near Chesterhill, Ohio 20 Dec 1837 and died in Dresden, Oh Dec 23, 1916, aged
79 years and 3 days. She was united in marriage to Eli S. Fawcett Jan 27, 1859. To this union were born 5 children - Mrs. Mary Doudna, now deceased, William G. and Mrs. Grace Gibbons of Chesterhill; Mrs. Debbie King of Porterville, Ca., and Mrs. Emma Davis of Dresden. She was reared in strict accord with the doctrine of the Friends Church. Fifty-six years ago she, with her husband, united with the M.E. Church until called up higher. During her last illness of five weeks she was a patient sufferer. On one occasion she said: If Jesus is ready to take me, I am ready to go. Yes, I am ready to go." The evening before she was called "home", before her son came, she said, "I can't wait till he comes. I can't help it. Tell him." But she knew him and her mind was clear unto the last.
Her husband died March 1, 1908. She is survived by four children, 24
grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, 2 step sons E.D. Fawcett of Norwalk, Ca and C.H. Fawcett of Springfield, Mo, three brothers Amos, and Jesse Hiatt of Chesterhill and James Hiatt of Springville, Iowa and many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Elizabeth Morris, of Chesterhill, spent some years of her girl-hood a member of the Fawcett home, and was always very near to the family.
Her place on earth will be vacant, but amid the beauties of an eternal
springtime, she was taken up her abode.
