Volunteered at Manassas, VA. 23 Jul 1861. He was promoted to Sargeant 5 Feb 1863. Taken prisoner at Petersburg, VA, 2 Apr 1865, he was a POW at Old Capitol Prison at Washington, DC and was sent to Johnson's Island, OH 11 Apr 1865.. He took the oath oa Allegiance 18 Jun 1865 and was released. Description: florid complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes, 5' 8" tall.
