Hiatt/Hiett Histroy Volume I
(1306.) to (1312.) No further record.
Records from Grace Kelso Garner, as well as records taken from the West Va. Advocate, written by Dr. Wilmer Kerns.
Letters from Jack Talmage, Lt. Col. U. S. Army Ret., 706 W. Cottonwood Ave., Enid Ok. 73701-1172. Latest letters of May 1991 question further the correct ties, rather there are two James Hietts and if so, need proof of a
previous marriage to Largent.
I will not as of yet remove these two families until I have something further to go on. If nothing further developes, we may have to list this as an unknown line rather than confuse it with a wrong person.IN MEMORY
James Hiett, Sr., was born in 1835, and died at his home in Cabooll, January 2, 1909, being more than 70 years of age at death. Mr. Hiett came to Missouri from West Virginia in 1873, moved to Texas Co. and settled near Cabool in 1884, and spent the remainder of his life here.
He was an honored and upright citizen, a good neighbor and a kind and loving husband and father and will be sadly missed by his relatives and a large circle of friends. Deceased was a member of the M.E. Church, south, and lived a faithful Christian till death. He leaves four sons, one daughter, a brother and sister to mourn their great loss. May God comfort them, and may they follow his good example.
His funeral was preached by the writer in the M.E. Church, south, and his body tenderly laid to rest in the Hamilton graveyard.Servant of God, well done,
Praise be thy new employ;
And while eternal ages run,
Rest in thy Father's joy.
