Joseph Washington TAYLOR

Joseph W. entered service 16 Dec. 1862.  He was taken prisoner by the enemy at Fisher's Hill near Winchester, VA, 19 sep. 1864.  He was sent as a POW to Point Lookout, MD, where he died 18 Jan. 1865 of chronic diarrhoea.  He died and was buried the same day in Grave #841 in the POW Graveyard at Point Lookout, MD.
 Note:  From family tradition (Inez Taylor great,granddaughter of Major Taylor)  She tells that Joseph and another boy were hiding out on Spring Hill and would come down at night to the spring for water...one night the soldiers caught them and took them off to the War and they never saw them again.....
