William M MARSH

Volunteered 18 Mar 1862.  Taken prisoner at hanover Court House 27 May 1862, he was a POW at Fort Monroe.  Exchanged at Aiken's Landing 5 Aug 1862.  Suffered a wound in the left shoulder at Gettysburg, PA, 1 Jul 1863.  taken prisoner at Jerico's Ford 23 May 1864 and was a POW at Elmira, NY.  Pvt. Co A 28 Reg NC


John MARSH

married a lady from VA...living in WV


James A BUTCHER

Volunteered at Dobson 5 Jun 1861...His regiment was sent to a training camp near Danville, VA and were later sent to Manassas Junction, VA and nearby areas.  They camped the winter of 1861-2 at Centreville, VA.  Taken prisoner at Winchester, VA around 25 May 1862, he was a POW at Fort Delaware, DEL.  Exchanged at James River, VA, 5 Aug 1862.  On duty again he suffered a wound in right arm at Sharpsburg, MD and the arm was amputated.   Because of that he was discharged 12 Aug 1863.


Jonathan James GENTRY

Entered service 12 May 1862 as a substitute for Columbus C Cockerham.  He was taken prisoner2 Apr 1865 at Petersburg and was a POW at Harts Island, NY Harbour.  Hetook the Oath of Allegiance 20 Jun 1865.  CO A 28 REG NC.
